| Job Information | Organic Chemist – Devon and Cornwall 3 required; 30-60K We are seeking to appoint a candidate that will possess a PhD in organic chemistry (some industrial, or relevant post-doctoral, experience would be advantageous) or be a chemistry graduate with at least three years’ experience in a relevant industrial field. Organic chemistry is the science of designing, synthesizing, characterising, and developing applications for molecules that contain carbon. Organic chemists create and study organic compounds, the reactions that produce them, and their chemical and physical properties. You will have experience of creating and exploring new uses for new or existing organic materials. Possess experience of synthesis reactions and isolations working in a laboratory environment using sophisticated instruments such as: Magnetic resonance; gas and liquid chromatography; and infrared, ultraviolet, and visible spectroscopy. Experience of using instruments that are computer driven and controlled, advanced computer literacy experience is high on the list of priority skills that we will be looking for. Complex molecules require 3D computer modeling capability to aid in visualising the domains of complex molecules that require synthetic modification.
