Mental Health and Care Work Our law firm client is seeking to appoint a family and mental health care lawyer, with 2-15PQE. The work will be both private and publically funded; travel to clients is to be expected. Our law firm client is recognised as a local leader in the complex and demanding area of mental health law and is known for its absolute commitment to human rights. Our law firm client has a reputation of offering a high quality, legal professional and holistic service. They combine sensitivity to patients’ needs with a determination to ensure their interests are protected and their wishes taken into account. You will act for individuals, many of whom are detained in hospital against their will. Our lawyer client candidate will advise local organisations and charities representing the interests of mental health patients in bringing test cases or intervening in litigation to extend patients’ rights or to clarify the law. You will have experience to act on behalf of clients who lack the mental capacity to instruct a solicitor. Questions of civil liberties and human rights lie at the core of mental health work and the Human Rights Act has been used consistently by our candidate lawyer client to make sure that mental health clients’ interests are safeguarded and unwarranted intrusions stopped.
Family Work General and precise administration of all new and existing private client files from initial instruction through to final completion. Work will be both public and privately funded additonally wide-ranging in content. Experience in children work is most desirable Membership of “Resolution” or involvement in/with collaborative law will be viewed as a positive aspect. Past/present involvement with mediation – managing, arranging, chairing, including communication and giving fair advice between the parties is expected.

The family lawyer that our client seeks to appoint will have sound experience in ancillary relief. Possess strong advocacy skills when at hearings and when advising counsel regarding strategy and planning the way forward.
