You could be based in any UK location.
Our client, an expanding law firm at a critical stage of nationwide development has instructed our office to locate an experienced medical negligence and PI lawyer.
Medical negligence case experience may include: Physiotherapist’s negligence, dental negligence, ENT surgeon’s negligence, failure to renew a repeat prescription, anaesthetist’s negligence, infected kidney transplant, anaesthesia, angiography, bone fractures, burn therapy, delayed treatment, delivery of children, diet, drug addiction, drug reaction, experimental therapy, heart surgery, haemorrhaging, hysterectomy, inadequate medication, infections, misdiagnoses, priapism, spinal surgery, stomach surgery, transferred without consent, uncontrolled diabetes etc….
PI case experience may include: Accident at home, at work, road accident, whiplash, trip /fall, accidents involving machinery, building equipment, unsafe premises, inadequate training, accidents on ice, sports accidents, pedestrian accident, uninsured driver accident, untraced driver accidents etc….
We seek to find a lawyer who can work effectively with clients; From initial meeting and assess whether a claim would be possible, exploring all the different funding options – Private funding, maybe legal aid, no win no fee or legal expenses insurance.
Cases vary in litigation complexity; More involved medical negligence case experience could include: Surgical injuries, spinal injuries, pressure sores, prescription or drug errors, orthopaedic injuries, nerve injuries, workplace injuries, walking injuries, GP negligence, advanced dental claims, cancer – late diagnosis and misdiagnosis, brain injuries, anaesthetic awareness, amputation, this list of case possibilities is endless.
The ideal candidate will have the following work experience – Able to undertake their own caseload within the office, on-site or working from home office. Attendance on clients and others in order to take statements, obtain information. Make appointments and complete Legal Services Commission (LSC) forms.
Instruction of experts and/or Counsel as appropriate. Undertake own advocacy, where appropriate in any case or matter. To ensure that monies are obtained from the Legal Services Commission and private clients is correct and then account by interim and final billing. To draft all legal documents as appropriate.
Arrange for filing of documents as appropriate, to arrange for filing of documents, service of documents and enforcement as appropriate. Authorise payments to third parties. Undertake continuing professional development as required by the law society.
Keep up to date with all relevant law and procedure. Ensure secure funding of case by private means, by conditional fees or legal aid.
Compliance with the office manual and department procedures, finally promote the business and market the law firm client at seminars, meetings and whenever possible.
