Financial Services Lawyer, South West, 50/130K+

Our prestigious law firm client has a growing reputation in the financial services sector for providing genuine expertise and commercial, pragmatic advice.

The firm wishes to grow and develop its sector offering by expanding the range of legal services available to insurer, mortgage lender and other product provider clients.

We are looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate their suitability and interest in the competencies listed below.

Job purpose

To proactively grow and develop capability, client work and fee income in this part of the financial services sector as part of supporting the business and strategic plans of the financial services group and the firm as a whole.

To work with the Team Leader and others within the wider corporate/commercial team to further develop the financial services sector offering.

Key responsibilities

You must be able to demonstrate:

  1. Proven track record of the full range of business development and marketing activities and experience including developing and leading strategies and action plans for building and growing a new practice area with the full support of the firm.
  2. Excellent and proven technical knowledge and track record of a broad range of financial services law, particularly focused on the product provider market including the areas of commercial/regulatory advice, risk management, product design, relationship management with the FSA, outsourcing. Potential to be considered as a ‘subject matter expert’
  3. A highly flexible approach and the capability to work well and flourish within a team environment, both within the wider team and across all practice area
  4. The potential to manage and/or supervise others, for example successfully supervising and developing trainees/paralegals and potential to lead a team would be desirable.
  5. Excellent all round communication skills including the capability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
